Program Descriptions

WNC United Classic and Challenge

WNC United is a cooperative effort between Swain Youth Soccer Association, Macon County Soccer Club, Jackson County Soccer Association, and Cherokee County Soccer League.  The United teams bring together the best players in the mountains to play on Challenge and Classic teams.  The teams rotate practices and home games between counties.  MCSC administers the teams with an advisory board of representatives from each county.

SYSA Academy and Junior Academy

SYSA offers soccer teams for boys and girls ages 5-10. The goal of SYSA academy soccer is to provide our players with the coaching and game experience to excel in competitive soccer. Academy teams are coached under the direction of SYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development Romano Michelotti.  He holds a National Youth Coaching license and a "C" level National Coaching license and brings over 30 years of coaching experience to SYSA.

Academy – The Academy program is for players U9-U10. Teams play area clubs away and at home and an away tournament. The focus is player development, games are not scored, and all players play.

Junior Academy – The Junior Academy program is for players U7-U8. Junior Academy teaches young players basic skills in a fun environment. Teams play against each other in Swain with a few local travel games possible.

For more information, read the Academy and Junior Academy FAQ.
