9/3/2016:  Welcome to Fall Rec 2016 SOCCER!!!!

We are excited about our season starting next week. Just a few quick reminders:
1st Practice will be Thursday, 9/8 at 5:30-6:30 at Camp Living Water fields.
Please make sure your child has cleats, shin guards and water for each practice/game. An adult must be at the fields at all times with their child.
After a few weeks (and when team jerseys arrive) we will start to cycle games into the mix. Remember all practices and games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
If practice is cancelled, we will send out a mass email, we will also post soccer cancellations on the SYSA Facebook page.
We are still in need of a few coaches. U9 and U11 age groups are both short 1 coach. If you are interested, please contact us immediately. If we cannot find a coach, we will have to increase team sizes beyond what is optimal. All head coaches get 1 child registration fee waived.
If you need to contact us throughout the season, please use the swainsoccerkids@gmail.com email.

 See you on the Pitch!!!

Spring 2016 Academy and Jr. Academy Season

Swain Youth Soccer Association has two programs to prepare elementary school soccer players for competitive play. Under the direction of Coach Romano Michelotti, players learn essential skills in a fun environment.

Academy – The Academy program is for players U9-U10 (born Aug. 1, 2005 - July 31, 2007). Teams play area clubs, away and at home, and an away tournament.  The focus is player development, games are not scored, and all players play.  Practice is three times a week (4:00-5:20 Monday, Tuesday and Friday). Cost is $95 + $25 uniform fee.  Practice begins Tuesday, Feb. 9th. We will have registration before practice starts on Feb. 9th. (Some U8 players who are playing at the higher level and show maturity can play Academy)

Junior Academy – The Junior Academy program is for players U7-U8 (born Aug. 1, 2007 - July 31, 2009). Junior Academy teaches young players basic skills in a fun environment. Teams play against each other in Swain with a few local travel games possible.  Players practice twice a week (Mondays 4-4:45 and Tuesdays 5-5:45). Cost is $65 + $15 uniform fee.  Practice begins Tuesday, March 15th. We will have registration before practice starts on March 15th.

If you feel that your child is a better fit for the Rec level then Camp Living Water will offer the Rec Level this Spring.

Recreation Soccer Fall 2015 New

Last week of soccer, you made it!  Are Messi and Morgan household names yet?  If not, just wait...

Tuesday- we will be doing round robin practice/games for U5 and U9 teams, so please have your child's jersey.  U7- scheduled games nd practices.  Check previous email or our website for the schedule.  Also, Oasis studios will be there to pass out pictures.  Please be sure to get your pictures before leaving tomorrow.  They will come around to each team to hand them out.  If you miss them or they miss you, just find me, I will help locate your pictures.

Thursday- last day of soccer for the season.  We will start with a kids vs. parents game.  So parents- do some stretching and wear sneakers and get ready to be schooled by your child.  The kids love this, so if you can play, please do so. At 6:00, we will start awards with individual teams.  After awards, we invite everyone to some cake to celebrate a great season of soccer (yes parents, you read correctly- CAKE!! before dinner).

Thank you again for a great season, please be sure to thank your coaches and sponsors of your team, without either, Rec. soccer could not happen.

One last reminder, tomorrow night at 7pm at United Community Bank, SYSA will be conducting a meeting about a possible Middle school soccer team.  We would love any and all input and help in this matter.  Please join us if you can.

SYSA will be having a meeting on Tuesday, October 20th, 7:00 PM at United Community Bank's Meeting Room to plan for a 3v3 Soccer Tournament in June.

Purpose- to raise money to pay for a Middle School Soccer team. The Swain School system has said they do not have any extra money to go towards the Middle School Soccer team and it would have to be paid for totally by SYSA. There is a big gap between when Rec soccer ends and High School Soccer begins. We are trying to fill that gap. At this time the school board is discussing if we can even have the middle school team which would be funded by SYSA. If you know someone on the School Board, please share your thoughts on the Middle School Soccer team. Here are our current school board members: http://www.swain.k12.nc.us/Board.
If you are interested in volunteering and helping to make this tournament happen, please plan to attend this meeting on Tuesday. Anyone is welcome.
And of course, we are always looking for new blood to help with the SYSA board and officer positions.  If you are interested in becoming more involved in local soccer, please contact us at www.swainsoccer.com
Thanks, hope to see you Tuesday night at the meeting.

Schedule for the rest of the season.  Please note, 10/13 and 10/15 have been switched.  NCYSA had to change the Roadshow date.  Please have your child wear their jersey on the 15th.
